FAQ

Why should I come to you first?
You deserve to get accurate information and support from medical professionals as you make important decisions about your sexual health or pregnancy. We are a comprehensive support system, equipped to help you explore all of your options. Not to mention, all our services are free and completely confidential.
How do I make an appointment?
Give us a call @ 970.221.5121.
How much does it cost?
All our services are free. That includes a pregnancy test, limited ultrasound, STD testing, options counseling, and support services.
If I have already made my decision about my pregnancy, why should I contact you?
If your appointment is for services related to an unplanned pregnancy, you will speak one-on-one with a registered nurse who is trained in pregnancy options education. No matter what decision you make, we can help. If you choose to parent, we can connect you to community resources and one of our Parent Mentors for ongoing support. If you choose to explore an adoption plan, we'll help you understand the steps and connect you to an agency that specializes in adoptions. We offer ultrasounds to confirm that your pregnancy is viable. Our medical staff can provide education concerning abortion.
For which STDs do you screen?

There are 8 known STDs and three related conditions. Alpha Center can screen for them all:

  • Chlamydia
  • Gonorrhea
  • Herpes
  • HIV
  • HPV
  • Hepatitis
  • Trichomoniasis
  • Bacterial Vaginosis
  • Molluscum
  • Yeast
How are males and females screened for STDs?
For HIV, Syphilis and Hepatitis screening, a blood draw is the method we utilize for males and females. Gonorrhea and Chlamydia screening is different for males and females. For males, a urine sample is the specimen of choice for screening. Urethral swabs may be less sensitive and therefore are not used. As for females, cervical swabs will be collected by a Physician for screening. Urine collection in females may have a reduced sensitivity. Cell culture is the preferred method of diagnosis for Herpes Simplex Virus in males and females with genital ulcers or other mucocutaneous lesions. Diagnosis of genital warts, caused by HPV, is usually made by visual inspection for both males and females.
What can I expect when I come for my appointment?
You can expect to be treated without judgment by medical professionals who sincerely care about you. We do everything we can to make you comfortable and provide you with factual information.
Who will see me at my appointment?
At Alpha Center you will always be seen by qualified medical professionals. You can address your most pressing health questions with a qualified and informed health professional.
Since you are a Christian clinic, will you push religion on me?
Not at all. We would never pursue a conversation about spiritual issues without your permission. Most people believe there's a spiritual component to life. Our desire is to care for you holistically.
Does Alpha Center comply with HIPAA?
HIPAA, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, primarily deals with the relationship between your clinic and your health insurer. Since Alpha Center offers all services free of charge, we have no need to communicate with any insurers, making HIPAA inapplicable. That said, our practice is to maintain the confidentiality of your medical information, except in very limited circumstances, such as when we are required by law to report evidence of abuse. We understand that unexpected pregnancy and STIs are sensitive subjects and that your privacy is important to you. When you visit Alpha Center, we will provide you with a copy of our welcome letter, which further explains your medical confidentiality.
Will anyone I know find out I've been there?
We operate under complete confidentiality. We know it’s hard to take the first step. We respect you for taking it. Alpha Center is a mandatory reporter. Feel free to ask your medical professional more about this.
