Frequently Asked Questions
How much does it cost?
All services of the Alpha Center are FREE. That includes pregnancy testing, Sexually Transmitted Infection testing, options counseling, and support services.
How long does it take?
Pregnancy testing usually takes about a half hour.
STI testing requires three office visits. The first visit is to assess your medical history and lasts about half an hour. The second visit is for testing and will last about an hour. Your third visit will be to receive your test results and will last about half an hour.
Will anyone I know find out I’ve been here?
We operate under complete confidentiality. If it happens that someone here knows your best friend’s aunt, your best friend or your best friend’s aunt will never know you were here unless you tell them. We know it’s hard to take the first step and we want you to know that we respect you for taking it.
The Alpha Center is, however, a mandatory reporter. This basically means that in any cases of statutory rape, when there are reasons to believe that you are in danger, or that you may put someone in danger, we are required by law to report these situations to local authorities. Feel free to ask your counselor more about this.
Why does the Alpha Center exist?
We are committed to serving our community by offering a safe place to receive information about issues that you may be facing. We want to equip you with the tools you need to make healthy decisions for yourself for today and in the future.
